Francis The Talking Mule / Francis Goes to the Races

synopsis

Francis The Talking Mule (1950):
Peter Stirling is a likeable but green soldier who has a crush on a pretty nurse, Maureen Gelder. But poor Peter isn't any better as a lover than he is as a soldier. He wishes he had a boon companion in his outfit to give him some sage advice on the ways of romance (not to mention soldiering)! He soon finds he does have a buddy, but not of the human variety ...

"Francis Goes to the Races" (1951): the owner of a talking mule, now a horse-breeder, gets involved with gangsters.
