Two Italian POW's, Alfred and Joseph, and two Jewish refugees from Germany, Madame Guttman and her daughter Rachel, have been interred by the government on a farm at Mount Macedon. They are there to assist Dorothy, a beautiful and independent mother of three, in the upkeep of her property while her husband is off fighting in the war. Thrown together by circumstance, Dorothy and Alfredo fall deeply in love, but both are married to absent spouses and unable to release their emotions. This is a story of a mixed up time when the Italian 'enemies' were friends, the Jewish and the Australians were.....just Australians.
