Frank Capra directs Bette Davis and Glenn Ford in this remake of his own Lady For A Day (1933). Impoverished Broadway peddler "Apple Annie" (Davis) has a problem. Her daughter Louise (Ann-Margret), educated abroad since infancy, is coming for a visit and brining her wealthy fiancee with her. Enter "Dave the Dude" (Ford) - a big-hearted racketeer - who enlists the aid of his colourful mob of hooligans in a wild and crazy scheme to pass Annie off as a high-society grande dame so Louise can marry her fairy-tale prince can live happily ever after!
