The Red Badge Of Courage (1951) |

Directed by Academy Award winner John Huston, 'The Red Badge Of Courage' is the story of Henry Fleming and his initiation into manhood as a Union Army recruit during the American Civil War. With a sensitive performance from Audie Murphy, the film reveals the horrible - though somtimes ennobling - realities of war. We share the experiences of the untested soldier through his own eyes: the tedious long marches, the heart-gripping fear of combat, the grief over fallen comrades, and hardest of all - the battle he must fight with himself. At the same time we see him mature rapidly from a timid boy to a self-assured man, from a coward to a hero.
