Based upon the experiences of director Bertrand Travernier's screenplay collaborator, Dominique Sampiero, 'It All Starts Today...' revolves around Daniel Lefebvre, the director of a kindergarten in Hernaing, a poor area in Northern France. Appalled by the deprivation that his pupils must endure, Lefebvre determines to rise above the tough conditions and battle against a repressive social and educational system. But, thwarted by indifference and bureaucracy at every turn, Lefebvre starts to be plagued by self doubt and and his resolve begins to waver. Travernier's film features a brilliant performance from Philippe Torreton as Lefebvre, together with a strong ensemble support from a mixture of professionals and non-professionals. French language with English subtitles.
