Among the great Western stars who rode the plains bringing law and order to the rugged frontier, few have been as loved and admired by movie-goers as Randolph Scott and Joel McCrea. How fitting it is, therefore, that they should top their long careers by co-starring in the most exciting, most memorable of their many Western films. Set in the waning days of the Old West, Ride the High Country casts Scott and McCrea as grizzled cowboys who are charged with bringing a shipment of gold safely to its destination. McCrea is a square shooter, and Scott wants the gold, but they set out together on their last glorious adventure. Before the final gunfight, the two must rescue a young girl from a shotgun marriage, and tangle with a dangerous family of miners. Sam Peckinpah directs the fast-paced action with his usual vigor. Fans of great Western movies will love Ride the High Country.
