synopsis

From the vaults of the John Wayne Estate comes the long-awaited video premier of the classic western film 'HONDO'. The year is 1874 and the white man's violation of the treaty with the Apache Nation has led to an air of hostility and unrest. Into this tense atmosphere strides Hondo Lane (John 'The Duke' Wayne), a U.S. Cavalry dispatch rider who encounters a young woman (Geraldine Page) and her son, living alone in Apache territory. Hondo is half-Indian himself and is troubled at having to fight his brethren in an all-out uprising. However, he finds himself called upon to lead the woman, the other remaining settlers and the beleagured U.S. Cavalry out of Apache territory to safety. Along the way he discovers that he has fallen in love....
