A wild west show entrepreneur leads his ragtag troupe from one misadventure to the next, in hopes of gaining fame and fortune, and falls in love along the way.Billy is an aging ex-shoe salesman, who has always dreamed of being a cowboy. He gets to live out his fantasy when he becomes the owner of a fly-by-night, traveling Wild West show in which he gets to perform his knife-throwing act. The troupe, a motley crew of semi-talented characters, perform at state fairs and small towns, picking up additional performers of dubious skills along the way. Billy, meanwhile, must continually hire new assistants for his act, due to his faulty knife-tossing abilities. One such woman is Antoinette, a wealthy but shrewish woman, who has been abandoned in the middle of nowhere, and left without a cent by her husband. When Antoinette first joins the show, she and Billy can't get along. But as she travels with this troupe of dreamers, she develops a softer side -- and soon is falling in love with Bronco Billy.
