David Puttnam's first production after "Chariots of Fire" and director Bill Forsyth's follow up to "Gregory's Girl", this delightfully observed comedy looks at the conflict between a Texas oil company and the canny residents of a Scottish fishing village, whose land is needed by the Americans for their North Sea oil base. This warm and affectionate story is a comedy in the classic style with a surprising twist in the tail.

Everything works in this quiet comedy. City meets small Scottish fishing village. 9 out of 10.
Haven't been able to rent it for years, as I live in the country, so this was a real treat (along with Long Hot Summer). Thank you Kino.
