Bagdad Cafe (Out Of Rosenheim)

synopsis

Jasmin Meunchstettner (Marianne Sagebrecht) is a German hausfrau who finds herself stranded at a run down cafe in the middle of the Mojave Desert. The proprietor, Brenda (CCH Pounder), an irascible black matriarch, takes an instant dislike to the homely Jasmin. However, as Jasmin cleans, the laid-back atmosphere of the desert begins to embrace her and the two women develop a firm friendship that affects the eccentric regulars of the Bagdad Cafe and creates a magical oasis in the heart of the desert. This wonderfully quirky and funny film from director Percy Adlon co-stars Jack Palance.
