Carl Fitzgerald (Sam Neill) is a loser in life. Thirty-something, unemployed, dumped by his wife and has a controlling mother who likes to criticise him at every opportunity! One day Carl decides it's time to change things. He manages to get a job as a chef in a sleazy club and he has fallen in love with Sophie (Zoe Carides), a 19 year-old Greek barmaid. One problem leads to another for Carl, he gets involved in a fight with a kitchen hand, gets on the wrong side of the club's bouncers and manages to get caught up in a firebombing of the club! All he has to do now is find a way out of the mess he has found himself in! Australian black comedy.
