Set in a Mexican border town, this film follows the fortunes of a sensitive peace-loving El Mariachi (Carlos Gallardo) who wishes to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather as an itinerant musician, earning his living through singing in local bars. He enters town at exactly the same time as an escaped convict, a renowned hitman. Both are dressed in black and carrying guitar cases - the only difference is that the Mariachi's contains his beloved guitar and the hitman's is full of weapons! After a case of mistaken identity, the Mariachi is befriended by, and falls in love with a beautiful barmaid, Domino, who unknown to him is also connected with the violent underworld. Forced by circumstances to trade his guitar for a gun, El Mariachi finds himself bullet-dodging and battling the evil that lurks around him... right up to the final action packed moments of the film. A remarkable and critically acclaimed debut film from the writer/director Robert Rodriguez.
El Mariachi
All he wants is to be a Mariachi, like his father, his grandfather and his great grandfather before him. But the town he thinks will bring him luck brings only a curse - of deadly mistaken identity.
Desperado
Director Robert Rodriguez follows up his legendary debut film, El Mariachi, with this sexy sequel about a mysterious guitar player searching for vengeance against the men who murdered his girlfriend.
