The Blue Angel

synopsis

The film that made Marlene Dietrich a star is an icon of Weimar cinema. Filmed simultaneously in German and English, Directors Suite presents both versions in their original, different forms. Dietrich stars as cabaret star Lola Lola, the resident attraction at The Blue Angel. When the upright, aging Professor Rath visits the speakeasy to denounce its spurious activities, he too is seduced by Lola's charms, and in turn compromises his own morals.
