90 Degrees South: Captain Robert Scott (1933) |

|
Captain Scott described photographer Herbert Ponting as 'an artist in love with his work' and, after the tragic outcome of the 1910 expedition which cost Scott and four of his companions their lives, Ponting resolved that the grandeur of the Antarctic and Scott's heroism should not be forgotten. The record of life on board the Terra Nova remains fascinating and his record of the Antarctic fauna remains unsurpassed. Ponting presented his film material in various forms - slide shows, lectures, a compilation film - but this sound version upon which he expended three years of work is the culmination of his endeavours.
