A group of forty-something friends, lovers, husbands and wives gather for dinner during the annual 'Fête de la musique' in Paris, and the atmosphere couldn't be friendlier, with great food, wine, and conversation.
...But at a dinner party, appearances rule. People get dressed up, they laugh, tell tales, show off, share memories and plans. Anxiety is hidden behind humour, sorrows smothered by bursts of laughter and, for a few hours, they believe it all! That's the main thing. So long as they follow the right rules of conduct and respect one another, chances are they'll have an enjoyable evening full of cordiality and hypocrisy.
