Paying homage to the spaghetti western, world renowned filmmaker Takashi Miike (Ichi,The Killer, Audition) has invented a uniquely stylish action western which will amaze and enthral its viewers. Set during the Genpei clan wars of the 12th century, and shot entirely in the English language, Sukiyaki Western Django features an all-star cast including the cream of Asian and cult cinema with a special cameo appearance from film maker Quentin Tarantino.
The film is set several hundred years after the bloody Battle of Dannoura in 1185, with the remote desert of Nebada acting as the stage for the long-standing rivalry between the Minamoto clan, led by Yoshitsune, and the Taira clan, led by Kiyomori. Here, their dispute is reignited amidst rumours that gold may be buried in the village of Yuta.
A nameless gunman with a disturbed past arrives and the village becomes rife with speculation as to who he will support, for it is quickly evident that his exceptional fighting skills could be the key to winning the battle.
