Camille (Catherine Deneuve), a divorced owner of a bookshop, is the loving mother of 20 year-old Mathieu. Vivacious and independent, Camille's life is shaken to the very core after Mathieu is killed in a car crash, a horrible accident which occurred at the hand of Mathieu's best friend, Franck. To the consternation of her ex-husband, her daughter and her friends, Camille befriends Franck, seeing in him the wasted life of her cherished son. But when her sorrowful interest in Franck becomes an obsession, Camille is forced to face the intensity of her own grief.
Oscar nominated star Catherine Deneuve gives a beautifully layered performance in this subtle, melancholic drama.
