George Martin and Willie Stannard are two prisoners on their way to a West Country gaol who find a way to escape. Martin is a hardened criminal but Stannard is a simple-minded youth awaiting trial. Despite being handcuffed together the two devise a clever plan to board a train in an attempt to elude the police who purse them. However when George kills a man Willie realises he must escape again – this time from George.
