Hailed on its release as the first Gainsborough production by Betty Box, Britain’s leading female producer at the time, this is a chilling tale of premeditated murder and revenge. Lee Warren, a business man, returns to London after a trip abroad with a suspicion that his wife is being unfaithful. At their apartment, he discovers evidence and the name of her lover. He calls on the man and demands he writes a note telling her it is over, dictating it so that it will in fact provide an alibi for a ‘suicide’. After killing him, Warren discovers that the man he has killed was his wife’s former lover and that she now has another.
