A beautiful meditation on life and existence, THE TASTE OF CHERRY follows a day in the life of Badii (Homayoun Ershadi), an affluent middle-aged man who has lost his instinct for living. Surrounded by the bustling vitality of Iranian working life, Badii approaches several people with a request to help him commit suicide. After many refusals he becomes more and more determined to end his life until meeting an aged Turkish taxidermist whose simple, yet eloquent words awaken Badii to the simple pleasures in life. Considered by many to be the greatest living director, Kiarostami's humanist filmmaking and powerful visual imagery is as refreshing as it is moving.
