Following the premature termination of her oil exploration project in Mongolia, chief Kelly (Miranda Otto) and her close-knit crew are forced to fly home on an ageing aeroplane flown by hot-headed pilot Frank Towns (Dennis Quaid). When colossal sandstorms rise up from the Gobi desert, the flight hits severe trouble. The massive weight of the oil drilling equipment puts immense pressure on the plane that rapidly spins out of control, and catastrophically crashes into the desert below. With just 10 survivors, the group has to face the fact that they are stranded 2,000 miles from civilisation, with little food, less water, and no chance of communication with the outside world. As arguments rage over their best chances for survival, one man speaks of a plan that is so unbelievable – it just might have a chance of working... Remake of the 1965 James Stewart classic.
