Antoine (Auteuil) is a maitre d’ at Chez Jean, an upmarket brasserie in Paris. One evening, while returning home from work, he saves an unknown man from suicide. But the stranger, Louis is furious. Feeling strangely guilty at having saved this unhappy man’s life, Antoine does everything he can to make things right. He finds Louis a job, and little by little, a friendship develops. But despite Antoine’s unstinting efforts, Louis remains gripped by a single obsession: Blanche, the love of his life and the woman who drove him to despair. Saying nothing to his new friend, Antoine resolves to find her. But things don’t go at all to plan; Blanche isn’t single. She’s attracted to Antoine. And more complicated still, she’s gorgeous… For a principled man like Antoine, it’s a situation of the utmost delicacy. Featuring the once-in-a-lifetime comic pairing of Daniel Auteuil and Jose Garcia, Pierre Salvadori’s intelligent, sophisticated and very human comedy is a delightful portrait of male friendship developing in the unlikeliest of situations.
